Is Delta 9 THC Legal in Indiana?
Delta-9 THC has been legal at the federal level since the passage of the 2018 Farm Bill. This bill, in addition to assisting farmers throughout the country, legalized hemp farming. All hemp products and cannabinoids derived from hemp are currently legal at the federal level. Many states, including Indiana, have enacted hemp-based laws that mirror the stipulations of the 2018 Farm Bill.

According to Indiana Code 15-15-13, derivatives, cannabinoids, and isomers of hemp are legally recognized. Hemp products containing Delta-9 THC fall under
the ambit of this statute but have specific criteria under which they qualify. Any hemp product having more than 0.3% concentration of Delta-9 THC on a dry weight basis is considered "weed," and its sale and consumption remain illegal in the state of Indiana.
Here are the key points for Code 15-15-13:

IC 15-15-13-6"Hemp"

For this chapter, "hemp" means all parts of the plant Cannabis sativa L., including but not limited to seeds, derivatives, extracts, cannabinoids, isomers, acids, salts, and salts of isomers. It shall contain no more than 0.3% delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) by dry weight of any part of the plant Cannabis sativa L.

As used in this chapter, "hemp product" means a product that: is derived from an industrial hemp plant or part of an industrial hemp plant; and includes a derivative, extract, cannabinoid, isomer, acid, salt, and salt of an isomer. The term does not include smokable hemp. Products containing more than 0.3% by weight of total delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC).
What’s Delta 9 THC?
Delta-9 THC, also called Delta-9 Tetrahydrocannabinol, is a primary psychoactive compound found in Cannabis and Hemp. It induces the euphoric sensation known as the "high." While Marijuana contains significantly higher levels of THC compared to Hemp, it's important to note that federal law strictly prohibits the use of Marijuana and its derivatives in the United States.
Is Delta-9 THC Safe?
While delta-9 THC is safe to consume, its usage must be discharged responsibly. Being that it's psychoactive means one has to be careful. With Hemp-derived
Delta-9 THC—while this variant does include 0.3 percent THC or less—one may notice that a lot depends on the person. It is for this very reason that it is
important to take a small dose first of CBD and THC, for example, to allow one's body to establish an individual level of tolerance easily.
For safety, take Delta-9 THC during leisure time, and do not operate any heavy machinery, drive, bike, or swim while under its effect. It would also be a good
idea, in general, to avoid using Delta-9 THC in case one is engaged in sport, anticipating a drug test, or pregnant/nursing. Have fun with the euphoric effects by enjoying your Delta-9 THC either in a relaxed setting or as a prompt for
creative activities.
