 Is CBD Legal in Iowa

Is CBD legal in Iowa? This is a valid question because CBD law is not the same across the states
of America, hence a proper understanding of rules is necessary to stay safe from legal hassles.
Lets get back to the question, is CBD legal in Iowa? The answer is yes but with few restrictions.
In the following section we will discuss the law regarding CBD in Iowa in detail.

Legal Status of CBD in Iowa

CBD laws in Iowa have changed recently. Although the Farm Bill legalized hemp derived
product federally back in 2018, Iowa took some time to catch up. While hemp derived products
with less than 0.3% THC are considered as agricultural products and controlled substances since
2018, Iowa kept CBD on the illegal substance list.

Finally, in 2019 Iowa made changes in the Hemp Act and followed the dictates mentioned in the
Federal Farm Bill. Which means hemp products, including CBD, are legal in Iowa if the THC
concentration is 0.3% or less on a dry weight basis. There some other stipulation that you must
know, check here:

License to Grow and Manufacture:

In accordance with Section 204.4 of the Iowa Hemp Act, a
person wishing to cultivate and manufacture hemp must submit an application that includes the
following details: the applicant's name and address; a map and description of each location they
plan to grow hemp; the estimated number of acres they plan to grow the crop on; the name and
variety of hemp they plan to grow; and the findings of a national criminal history record check.
No need to mention that a clean record will be much helpful.

 Mandatory Tests and Inspections:

Every year, the DIA inspects permitted agricultural sites. As
part of this inspection, a sample of the crop is taken, and its THC content is checked to make
sure it is 0.3% or below. The licensee must notify the DIA of the anticipated harvest date of their
crop at least thirty days prior to the crop being ready for harvest in order for the tests to be
carried out. After that, a department representative will visit the premises to gather samples.

Inhalation is Criminal Offense::

Anyone who makes, handles, has, or distributes hemp products
intended for inhalation is subject to criminal penalties under Section 204.14A of the Iowa Hemp
Act. This encompasses (without being restricted to) heated apparatuses that emit smoke or vapor
or organically rolled materials utilized for inhaling CBD or THC goods..

 Is CBD Legal in Iowa

Adhering to the recommendations of the 2018 Farm Bill, Iowa made changes in state hemp act in
2019 which legalizes Industrial hemp with 0.3% THC or less. That makes hemp derived CBD
legal in the state. However, hemp products introduced to the body through inhalation are still
illegal in the state.
